Our Obsessions this Week: 1.25.15

Feed that Wanderlust, baby

Now is the time to map out your travel plans for 2015-- whether its stateside or abroad, get out there and see the world this year! Take advantage of these dropping oil prices, pack an overnighter and just go. You will never regret an adventure taken, just the ones you missed.

DODOCASES... Um, can we just stop and ADORE the cutest cover ups for Ipads since the snuggie? They're sleek and such an awesome way to protect your smartaccessories while on the go.

Less is More

Minimalistic jewelry like simple, dainty rings, necklaces, bracelets, body chains and more have been all over our radars recently. Seen everywhere from the bodies of popular bloggers like the The Little Magpie and Kenzas to the shelves of our favorite fast-fashion retailers like Zara, H&M and Forever 21 and even high-end department stores like Bloomingdales and Barneys, it’s hard not to fall in love with this trend. Read more: http://stylecaster.com/minimalist-jewelry-trend/#ixzz3Ptdy6EOs

It's La La Lemon Season!!

Meyer Lemons are our FAVE lemon and quite possibly the new kale. Asking why? They're well known for cleansing and detoxification purposes, but also are insanely delicious in sweet and savory dishes! Lemon almond tart sound yum? How about pasta with kale and lemon garlic confit? Intrigued?? We thought you'd be... Sneak a peek at our cooking section for deets!

Arricaderci, Ombre-- Bon Jour, Ecaille!

While ultra vibrant hair and dramatic ombre ruled 2014, we’re starting to see a shift in the follicle forecast. As we step into the new year we’re beginning to see a more natural trend attached to those tresses. The leading force toward this minimal vibe: balayage, increasingly popular highlights that aim to mimic those sunkissed highlights you got as a kid. And now, piggybacking off balayage, we’re seeing another similar, albeit darker, technique that we’re sure is about to go mane-stream over the course of 2015: introducing ecaille (AKA “tortoiseshell” in French).

Seeing RED

Cant love this long red skirt trend enough! So so chic for your next date night or dinner party.

 Je t'aime!
Roses Are Red, Violets Are Blue, We're loving this lookAnd you should too!

KEEP IT SPICY: Jalapeno poppers, updated...

So perfect for your Superbowl parties or hell, any party! Loving this easy peasy recipe from rachelschultz.com
Bonus: Spicy foods boost your metabolism so this is clearly a win-win ;)

Potentially Awkward: What to do when you're pregnant and your best friend isn't

whenyourfriendispregnant.jpg

Our gal over at Pregnant Chicken has some great advice for this easy fumble (superbowl pun intended) But maybe lets start with, hmm..being f*ing normal? Also, it is never, ever okay to suggest a sperm donor as an option to someone who hasn't even expressed a desire to have a child. Now is not the time to apply peer pressure *cough*

Hooray for January! We'll be making valentines before you know it!

XOXO,

This week's Obsessions: All that GLITTERS is GOLD

You know what they say, she who leaves a trail of glitter is never forgotten. This week's obsession is no different. Lately, I've been loving anything gold, sparkly, and fabulous.

I am loving this Kate Spade Glitter Watch. Dress up or Dress down, this watch is perfect for any outfit. The best part, the watch is interchangeable and changing straps to a soft nude color. This watch not only comes in gold, but silver and multi-color!

I've been rocking this Kate Spade "Be Dazzling" phone case for a while. I love the silicon material and the fun glitter detail!

Add a splash of glitter on your nails with Elf's Glitter Polish found at Target!

Keep it classy with a good friend of mine, MK!

Take a spontaneous trips to New York, the city of Gold, in February! (Keep posted for that blog post.)

Last, but not least, keep those January blues away with a fresh bouquet of flowers. Although they aren't gold or dipped with glitter, these fresh tulips are the "pick me up" you need to make it through your week. They have me believing spring is around the corner. (I wish.)

Have a fancy Dinner Party. Like, real fancy-- with zebras and menus.

Your friends will be wowed for the last time of the year when you dish up an amazing 4 course meal on antiqey finds from the flea market, zazzed up with fun cocktail napkins and hand lettered menus. A little construction paper, some gold sharpie, and you're set. Wanna make it extra fancy?? Hire a private chef for the night. As swank as it sounds, you can actually find a ton of chefs for reasonable rates by posting an ad at your local culinary school. Our Obsessions this Week: November 17, 2014

Fall is in FULL SWING and M&M is feeling it!

Check out our Top Obsessions this Week:

ROASTED PARSNIPS & CARROTS:

Not only is this a universal crowd-pleaser, the prep is quick and can easily happen while kiddos are occupied with play-doh. This dish accompanies so many mains and can even work for brunch. Serve individually for guests with an over easy egg and its paleo and fabulous too. So freakin good.

BOOTIE BOOTIE BOOTIE...

Rockin Everywhere

Seriously-- if you don't have fall booties lets start over. quick.
We are in love with these sassy business-in-the-fronts from mod cloth. Sooooo appropriate for work and play, and comfortable enough to keep on all day. This seasonal shoe is a classic and can definitely be counted on to make a comeback year after year.

And could you just melt for these pineapple booties? I die.

RUSTIC BARN WEDDINGS:

They aren't over until I say they're over.

I mean, who doesn't love a good barn wedding/pickup truck/pumpkin everything/hipster chic ceremony? Who? You're lying to yourself. We love.

HYDRANGEAS: Victorian Florals

An all-time favorite flower and so perfect for any occasion, nothing quite says rustic and farm fresh like some autumn toned hydrangeas in a vintage bucket or pitcher. Love.

BOOMF-- You will freak out from the cuteness.

Yet another fab contribution from the Middleton clan, Boomf is a fabulous company that will take your Instagram pics and screen print them onto edible fabulousness- yes, marshmallow-ey pics that will turn anyone's seasonal frown upside down. Such a fun gift idea or a "just because I wanted to see your face on food" thing.

'Nuff said.
